Fastener size and spacing are structural requirements, not quantity defaults.
Use the applicable code, engineered design, or panel installation guidance for the roof system.
Map supported edges
Panel ends and supported edges create denser fastening lines than intermediate framing in many common schedules.
Panel clips or blocked edges can change detailing but do not remove the need to follow the specified fastening pattern.
Count intermediate lines
Panel orientation and framing spacing determine how many intermediate framing members cross each sheet.
Calculate these lines from the actual roof framing rather than assuming a fixed count per panel.
Avoid double counting
Adjacent panels share framing lines, so a whole-roof layout can be more accurate than multiplying a per-sheet estimate blindly.
Keep special diaphragm or edge-zone requirements separate where they apply.
Round to packages
Add a small allowance for dropped or damaged fasteners and round to the box or coil quantity sold.
Verify corrosion resistance, shank, head, length, and approved installation method separately.
